A one of a kind handmade chess set created from an original painting, a handcrafted cabinet with brass decorative hardware in Mother of Pearl and a painting of Payne’s grey and white.
Every other square was cut from a canvas after being hand selected for its effects and design. Alternating squares are a lustrous Mother of Pearl resin.
The chess pieces feature a set of solid white Mother of Pearl resin while the other side is multipoured combination of Paynes grey and Mother of Pearl resin, that shows the depth and variation that Paynes Grey produces, that makes it my favorite color in my drawer. A final clear top layer while the grid is hand painted with silver enamel. Each chess piece has a hand cut cork base.
The Cabinet is crafted with a Poplar exterior with a MDF base. It is stained walnut and hand waxed. Filigree brass ornaments on sides, corner sits on delicate ornate metal feet. The interior features a rail that the board nests into, offering space below for storage on its black velvet lining. The board has a black velvet ribbon for easy removal from cabinet. This chess set includes matching checkers and the matching domino set can be added at a bundled price.
