A one of a kind handmade chess set created from an original painting, a handcrafted cabinet with sculpted Kraken tentacles and glittering barnacles and one of a kind hardware.
Every other square was cut from a canvas after being hand selected for its effects and design. Alternating squares are a copper and patina green metallic pigments. The board was then poured in metallic black resin and surface grid was hand painted in copper enamel.
The chess pieces feature a set of solid copper and patina metallic green, while the other side is a thrill of discovery. I did 3 pours for this set, the sea bottom of greens with shells, curious creatures and crystals. A lighter layer and a final clear top layer. Each piece has a hand cut black velvet base.
The Cabinet is crafted with a Poplar exterior with a MDF base. The exterior showcases hand sculpted polymer clay kraken tentacles, barnacles, lost Spanish coin and creatures from the deep, all glittering in premium color shifting mica pigments and sealed. It sets on custom poured ornate feet. The interior features a rail that the board nests into, offering space below for storage on its golden handmade cushioning. The board has a black velvet ribbon for easy removal from cabinet. This chess set includes matching checkers.
This set was made with not only the love of the game but the love of the art. It is truly one of a kind and will never be replicated.
